Now that it’s cold and rainy here in Cyprus, I have selected some pictures to show from one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, Lankayan Island.
This jewel-like little island in the Sulu Sea is unpopulated and covered by thick tropical vegetation on its top ringed by an endless pure of white sandy beach. A true peaceful, untouched little bit of paradise,
The crystal clear water offers myriad of macro marine life, coral reefs and even whale sharks. The island is also a nesting and foraging place for Green and Hawksbill Turtles and I’ve been lucky to see turtles laying eggs and hatched baby turtles being safely released to the sea 💚
The island is so small that they had to build a building on stilts in the water where the restaurant is located.
This is a hide-away location, a place to just be, to find peace of mind and where it’s easy to forget that there is another world out there…
…a world I wish would be in harmony, although it feels like such world only exists in our dreams or imagination.

In early 1971, John Lennon composed a song inspired by his wife Yoko Ono. That song is still one of the most covered songs ever, and continues to be used as a symbol of the pursuit of world peace. It’s well worth listening to, or just reading the lines…
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin’ for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin’ life in peace
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
