Yesterday, when I went out for a walk, there was a photo exhibition along the Sarawak River. I became so enthusiastic to photograph the amazing pictures and totally forgot to even think about setting my own camera, it was very close to the sunset. Anyway, I took some pictures that I would like to share. To each picture there was a short text, but I mixed it up. Today when I go out I’ll try to be more organized. These are just a few of many photographs along the river, which shows people from different cultures in Asia. More to come…
Kuching is divided by the Sarawak River where locals often catch fish and shellfish. There are plenty of fish in the river and fishing boats leave the nearby harbor early mornings so you can buy fresh fish in the local market.
The Sarawak River is listed as a location of the Crocodile Removal Zones, whereby the presence of crocodiles in this area pose serious human/crocodile conflicts. In July a 2.5 meter long Sarawak crocodile meet its end. This one was luckily behind bars at a rehabilitation center when I took the picture.Getting from one side to the other is easy with small primitive boats. It takes a few minutes and cost 50 cent. A footbridge will be finished at the end of the year. That´s great for me who love long brisk walks.Sunday stroll. Having a dog as a pet isn’t common here in Kuching because of the Muslims. For some reason, they don’t like dogs. In my thoughts I can see my funny little Fanny horsing around among the dismayed Muslims 😉 ..with all due respect!
In Borneo, where I am now, there are no specific seasons. There’s the ”Landas” the rainy season but it always rains in the tropics, more or less. Compared to Sweden where the differences between the seasons are much more distinct, spring, summer, fall and winter. Also in Malta but not as clear as in northern part of Europe.
Tropical rainforest, layered of compact greenery.Hiking in the forest where the ground are layered of withered leaf. The leaf only change color when they fall off. Not like in Sweden where they fall off after changing color. That can be a real beautiful magnificence! ……In Malta, where I live, there’s almost no forest left...
Layered and twisted texture, as the seasons, depending on where in the world you are.
This is my second contribution for this week’s Daily Post WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge.
Just for fun!
In this weeks WordPress Photo Challenge we will focus on the interplay of depth, density and texture. Immediately I got some pictures in my mind that I then found in my archive.Depth, density and texture…
Water is layered by surface, density, space, transparency and texture. Water is also a homogeneous volume, but this is my interpretation of this week’s challenge, even though my thoughts are totally wrong in reality. This is not a race, it’s just for fun 😉
Today we had the first rainy day for several months here in Malta. It´s September, not much to say about that. Summer is over but still, 26 degrees. On this tiny island in the Mediterranean the weather can change quickly. Goes out on the terrace and sweeps the floor. It turned out to be a colorful little bunch.
The one to the left is our puppy and to the right her sibling. Unfortunately, I still haven´t got a nice photo of our little dog from the breeder in Sweden, but she´s now eight weeks old and called Fanny. When she´s fifteen weeks we can take here home to Malta, that means in the end of October. Wish you all a lovely weekend!
They grow wild in the countryside and you can pick freely as many as you like. But watch out, they have a lots of thorns. You can also buy them at a green grocery for 45 cents each, then you get them without thorns. The fruit is edible, not too sweet but moist with a flavor similar to honeydew melon.A tasty fruit here in Malta and when you find them, you know it´s fall.
In the distance, it looks like small white flowers growing on the dry branches. But, if you look closely, you’ll notice that there are small shells, it’s the Mediterranean snail.I saw thousands of them! I just don’t understand why they are attracted to the dry plants. I read it’s a well-known agricultural pest in many parts of the world and that they are edible. Interesting and very special.

These are just a very few pics from another lovely weekend here sunny in Malta, where I chose the theme blue. More to come…
Even an ordinary flower..…has an exciting structure. As well as shown in this close-up of a hibiscus.Structure of a feather. This one is actually not larger than a little finger nail.A completely different but still, a kind of structure. A construction, a creation.
My husband’s secret project. It’s not really done yet… Look at the wings on this little beetle! We easily shoo them away and forget to watch closely.
The last picture is from my archive while the others were taken today.
When in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, don’t miss the birds!
The bird’s bill is a remarkably adaptable and useful instrument. Click on an image to enlarge.Distracted.In my opinion, the most beautiful one with its amazing feather suit.
You will find Kuala Lumpur Bird Park only 10 min drive away from the hustle and bustle in the city centre of KL. Most of the birds in the park are let free in the bird sanctuary which closely resembles their natural habitat. This free-flight concept allows the birds to breed naturally in this unique environment.
Failure is success in progress! Ooh, Shiny 😅Even a colorless can appear as shiny through a delightful detour. Colors among our flowers and a welcome little visitor gives delight and diversion.A fly can distract in two different ways. Choose the positive one…

In this week’s Photo Challenge I’ll try to find what´is distract me and makes me feel ”Oh, shining!”?
This flower grew when I planted a bunch of chives that I bought at the supermarket. They have already started fading. But yet, oh, shine! I will certainly find more that distracts me during this week.
If everything goes as planned, we will go to Sweden in September to pick up our little puppy. Here you see our new family member born 13th July. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this will be reality, I´m so happy.
All pictures are taken by me except those on the puppy, taken by Marianne Gustavsson.
In this weeks challenge we will focus on the tactile element of the objects we shoot, whether it’s one distinct quality, softness, smoothness, graininess or any other texture we find interesting or, a combination of several.
As usual, I couldn’t choose only one. All pics are taken in Italy, Sweden or Malta. It´s a mixture of walls in different shapes and textures. Walls made of bricks, stones or wood. Smooth, hard or painted in soft/strong colors. If you take your time and really look at all pictures, you will find one that is not a wall 😉 Enjoy!

There are so much in this picture that makes me feel satisfied, besides holding the camera. Memories, the sense of freedom, the amazing landscape and the natural colors of the great ocean as well as the blue sky.
Road Trip California in 2014, a trip that gave me great satisfaction and lots of lovely memories.”A journey of thousand miles must begin with a single step and every exit is an entrance to somewhere else…”
Wherever I was when I took this photo, it will be today’s picture.
Shortly, I will visit your website, have been too busy trying to give my site a more up to date look..
By the way, the footbridge was taken in Singapore. 😀
