I’ve been to Sweden for a few days and the weather felt a bit gray and cold compared to Malta’s mild climate. On the first day I went for a walk in the surroundings of Älvsjö, a suburb of Stockholm, in search of colors.
“And all at once summer collapsed into fall”
– Oscar Wilde –
Both images above are from a suburb outside Stockholm in Sweden. I myself prefer the one with the blue sky. Although both images give an exciting impression of the difference between seasons in the northern Europe.A farmhouse in Gozo, Malta.
Everyday life in different parts of our world. Above you see a family at the market in Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Malaysia and then a woman selling Pancake Crepes along Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand.
All of these pictures are from my archive and memories from different trips. The images speak for themselves but you may be able to guess where they were taken. A few clues, three are from Malta one from Singapore, one from Sicily and the rest from Borneo, Stockholm and California. Click on an image to enlarge.
Yes, I’ve been away, again. This time I went to my hometown in Sweden for a few days. I had lots of ideas what to do and what to see, but in three days I didn’t make much of it. I met my three sisters and I met a blog friend that I never met before. Thank you Annette 💕we had much to talk about and time flew too fast.
The images above has nothing to do with the text except that they are two of very few I took during my visit in Stockholm and the fact that these are not to be found in Malta. What you see are two chimneys, lines, signs, a blue sky, colors and angles. No remarkable about that, all depending on how you look at the pictures.
My favorite place is where I live my daily life on the small island of Malta. But after almost eighteen years in this country, another favorite place is my former hometown of Stockholm in Sweden. It´s exiting to be like a tourist and explore what’s new and to visit old favorite places from where I have so many memories.Riddarholmen is an island in Mälaren and a district in central Stockholm, belonging to Södermalm’s district. The island, together with the Old Town, constitutes Stockholm’s historic center. It´s not easy to choose but The Old Town, Gamla Stan, is a favorite place I always try to visit.
Here the alleys are long, many and narrow. It has happened that I’ve almost got lost.A visit to one of Stockholm’s food markets is a must. This is from Östermalmshallarna. At Södermalm you´ll find many old well-preserved houses. You almost get a feeling of being moved to the countryside, though you are in the middle of the city.
The only time of year I try to avoid visiting Sweden is during the winter. But when you see these, you know that spring has arrived! The best time of the year to visit Sweden is in the summer.…and when you see this, you get another proof of Spring, or at least almost. As soon as there are degrees above zero and a blue sky, you’ll have to sit outside if you’re in Sweden, even if it’s only 10 degrees.
A pedestrian on the new bridge here in Kuching. It’s not open to the public yet, what we see as a silhouette is a worker. I don’t think the bridge will open before we leave and fly back home to Malta. Just over a week left.
Pedestrians in another part of the world. An early morning walk in the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. I always try to spend some time in this part of Stockholm when I visit my hometown. Soon I’ll be there.
Tack Svante!
Eget tema 4 / Tant
Choose a picture from one of winter’s many visits to Stockholm. Here from Södermalm, for color’s sake and for that I like to wander around in the district.
