Right now, the variety of different fruits here in Cyprus is amazing. Fresh figs, grapes, apricots, peaches, plums, cherries… and of course melons, especially watermelons!
I absolutely love fruit and eat a lot of it—along with just about every kind of vegetable. Not just because it’s healthy, but because it’s genuinely delicious.
Watermelon is popular among Cypriots, and they grow impressively large. They cost only 35–40 cents per kilo, but often weigh so much that carrying them home becomes a challenge… not to mention they don’t fit in my fridge!
When I’m out driving, I often see cars parked along the roadside where farmers are selling their giant watermelons straight from the back of their trucks, The catch? You can only buy whole melons from them!
