Lens-Artists Challenge, this week hosted by Ritva.
This was more difficult than I expected.
Cropping is usually about improving a composition, this time it meant questioning it. What to leave out became just as important as what to include.
Placing the subject at the edge, allowing a shadow to dominate, or cutting into a familiar shape felt slightly uncomfortable at first.
But perhaps it’s exactly that discomfort that makes a crop unusual.
These are the images I chose, each one a small experiment in seeing differently.
Feel free to click on any photo to view it larger.

A crop that leaves no room to escape.
At the edge of autumn.
On the verge of leaving the frame.
When a shadow tells a different story.
