Paphos Blue – A Small Butterfly of Cyprus

Small, subtle, and easy to overlook — yet very beautiful up close.

At first glance, it may seem quite plain, with its soft grey-brown underside and small black spots.
But when the wings open, a different side appears — a deep blue that catches the light.

This is most likely the Paphos Blue (Glaucopsyche paphos), a tiny butterfly endemic to Cyprus.

This species is most active during spring, quietly fluttering through grasslands and low vegetation.

It often goes unnoticed, despite being quite common in the right habitats.
Perhaps it’s a small reminder that some of nature’s most beautiful details are also the easiest to miss.
