One of my favourite wildflowers in Cyprus is the caper flower.
Each blossom lasts for only a single day, making every sighting feel a little special.
The unopened flower buds are harvested and pickled to produce capers, a popular ingredient in Mediterranean cooking.

I remember seeing these along the sides of the road in Israel. They are so delicate and beautiful. But, as you say they only last for a day and I was so disappointed when I saw how they appeared wilted by the end of one day. Lovely images!
They wilt so fast, but the lovely thing is that new blooms appear every day. Thank you for your kind comment BJ.
