They may not be everyone’s favourite garden visitors, but they certainly know how to catch the eye.
Bright orange, boldly patterned, and constantly on the move, these little shield bugs are surprisingly fun to watch.

One look up close and it’s easy to see why they’re impossible to overlook.
Every stripe and every spot seems to have been painted with a fine brush.
There was no shortage of activity. Some squeezed past each other, a few seemed to be having very important bug meetings, and others were perfectly happy to wander off alone.

Despite their striking appearance, these shield bugs are harmless to people.
Their bold colours warn predators they’re best left alone. Being this colourful is its own kind of protection.
