Sometimes the smallest discoveries make an ordinary walk more interesting.
This little grasshopper kept hopping from one dry stem to another, making it anything but easy to photograph.
When I looked through my photos afterwards, I noticed how unusual its colours were.
Curious to find out more, I searched online and discovered that it may be an example of erythrism,
a rare genetic colour variation that can give grasshoppers pink or reddish tones.
Whatever the explanation, it was certainly an interesting little encounter.
