Lovely bee. Pity about the flower, lantana is a major weed on my place and a constant battle to control

Thanks, Brian. Interesting how lantana behaves so differently in different places. Here in Cyprus it’s no trouble at all, just a colourful magnet for bees and butterflies and I enjoy having it in the garden.

That’s part of the trouble here. The pollinators love it and the birds like the seeds and spread seeds everywhere 🙄
Glad it’s not a problem there. My place is on the edge of being sub-tropical

What a great gallery! The shots are stunning, including that one showing the bee’s proboscis.

Thank you so much, Egídio. I guess it’s a hoverfly, not a bee, although they mimic bees very well. They’re always busy and fun to photograph.

Med sugröret i högsta hugg, och ögat som glänser på en av bilderna, skickligt fotad blombesökare!

Tack så mycket för dina ord. Blomflugor behärskar uppenbarligen konsten att posera, utan att veta om det. 🙂
