More Butterflies

More Butterflies

There are plenty of butterflies now, more than last year, and I have even seen some I’ve never seen before. Like this one which I assume belongs to the genus Swallowtails.

This one is a very small compared to the Swallowtails and can be difficult to spot when it folds its wings, which hides its blue color. I saw many of them even last year, could be a Common Blue.

It’s not uncommon for me to come home with hundreds of pictures in my camera. There is so much in nature to discover and even if not all photos turn out well, each one is unique in itself.

Not a Swallowtail Anita but Southern Festoon (Zernthia cerisy). The blue one is probably Green Underside Blue (Glaucopsyche alexis) or possibly Paphos Blue (G paphos).
We are still waiting for our first butterflies in this cold, wet, windy spring.

You certainly have an eye for capturing a butterfly! I love the blue butterfly – it looks like its colour can rub off on your hands 😉. Oh, and who can resist smiling when looking at your adorable doggies.
