Among the Yellow Blooms

The days are getting warmer here in Cyprus, and the summer heat is just around the corner.
Before long, many of these flowers will have faded and the landscape will turn dry and golden.

There is still plenty of colour, and plenty of tiny visitors to discover among the petals.
Not all of them are here just for the flowers.

I didn’t notice the tiny beetle when I took the photo. It almost looks like a little jewel.

Some visitors are easier to spot than others. Those antennae are quite impressive.

Paphos, Cyprus.
Today’s temperature: 26°C

What a delight to see these varied tiny creatures enjoying these beautiful yellow blossoms. Do you take these with a macro lens?

Thank you BJ, they really are a joy to watch. And yes, I use my macro lens for these tiny visitors.

I’d love to know what type and size macro lens you use, and whether you use a light filter??
I recently bought a 100mm 2.8 macro lens to use with my Canon R6, but I often wish I’d gotten a 60mm instead.

Hi BJ, thank you for your kind words and for your question.
For most of the macro photos on my blog I’ve been using my older setup: a Canon EOS 80D together with a Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Macro. It has been a faithful companion for years, and I don’t use any filters.
I recently bought a new setup (Canon R7 with the Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USM), but I haven’t had the chance to test it yet.
Your 100mm on the R6 is a strong combination, even if a 60mm sometimes feels more flexible.
Macro is always a bit of a dance between distance, comfort and the behaviour of the tiny creatures we photograph. 📷🪰

Thanks again for visiting my blog.😁

Thanks so much, Anita. I always find it helpful to hear what other people are using, as I’m still really trying to get the hang of macro photography!😉

Macro can feel a bit tricky at first — I’m still learning too. But with the way you catch birds, I’m sure you’ll master the tiny world in no time.☺️

Great photos of beautiful insects Anita. Some are enjoying spring for sure 😉

Thanks a lot Brian. Yes, some of them are definitely making the most of spring… and keeping me busy with the camera.📷😁

A crown daisy! Beautiful choice, Anita. Great captures of the busy bees and insects, too!

Nu är insekterna väldigt flitiga. Dessutom har du visat att nästa generation är säkrad 😃Underbara makro 🤩
