Along The Way

Some walks lead to wide-open views. Others reveal tiny, almost hidden details.
These photographs were taken during recent walks here in Cyprus. The same path rarely looks the same twice.

In the summer heat, every patch of shade is welcome.

A small chapel I came across during a recent walk in Tala—with Sally and Felicia leading the way.

Thank you for writing, Sue. Those two are butterflies, caught in a special moment.

Well, I’m guessing I need to go to butterfly moth school! 😉

Thank you so much, Aura. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. And yes, the “puppy” is actually five years old, but still very photogenic.😁🐕❣

Haha..

What an exciting walk! Did you find out what that butterfly was? (I can’t promise to be able to identify it but I could have a look in my book).

    1. Anita Avatar

Thanks, Mike! I haven’t figured out the species yet, so if you want to check your book, that would be great. I guess you noticed it was two butterflies together.☺️

Hi Anita. I think they are Large Wall Browns (Lasiommata maera) with the male on the right and the female left.
I’ve photographed them in Switzerland and this shows you a picture of the upperside:

Thank you so much, Mike. And thanks for taking the time to look it up! I think you’re right, they do look like Large Wall Browns. Your photo from Switzerland shows the upperside beautifully.
