Jerusalem Sage – Spring’s Golden Performer

These photos take me back to April, when Jerusalem Sage brightens the Cypriot countryside with its yellow flowers. Despite its name, it isn’t a true sage but belongs to the mint family.

One flower, two visitors. Jerusalem Sage is popular with more than just bumblebees.

One flower fades as another takes the spotlight.

Soft leaves, bright flowers and plenty of sunshine — that’s a winning combination.

The flowers may be gone, but the seed heads have a character all of their own.

I love this flower. In fact, we just had some planted in front of our house. I can hardly wait to see its blooms. Your photos are stunning showing all flower details.

How nice that you have Jerusalem Sage in your own garden, I’m sure you’ll enjoy those blooms when they arrive. And thank you for your kind words about my photos.

You’re welcome. I’m looking forward to those blooms. I might have to wait a year. They just planted Jerusalem Sage a month ago.

Thank you, Terri, Jerusalem Sage really is a cheerful bloom. I’m glad you liked the seed pod too. Yellow flowers always make me happy as well.

Lovely flower and the bee photo is fabulous Anita. Did you ever use the leaves in cooking?

Thank you, Brian. Jerusalem Sage is such a lovely plant, and the bees seem to agree. I haven’t tried using the leaves in cooking, but I might pick a few next time I see it and hand them over to my husband, who’s the cook in our house 😉

If it has a mint flavour and you’re in summer, in a salad might work. Have a nibble on a leaf for a taste 😀

We have 3 or 4 of those plants in our garden, but my wife doesn’t like them. We pulled up at least one last year, but it still seems to be growing (though not as wide obviously).
Fabulous photo of the bee. 🥰
